Due to the popularity of this event, in-person and online attendance at the National Space Centre is fully booked.
The event will bring together technical staff from across science sectors, with inspirational speakers and networking opportunities. The conference is free to attend and open to those in technical roles in all sectors of the sciences, including industry, education and research – attendees don’t have to be members of any professional body.
The morning is focused on environmental sustainability, with a joint talk and panel discussion from a number of technicians across the UK discussing how they are driving initiatives and improvements for sustainability in labs. In the afternoon, delegates will get a taster session of the newest RSC-approved training course from HEaTED – Technicians Stepping into Supervision and Management. Following a break, the conference moves to focus on the sustainability of technician skills and careers, with a talk from the RSC careers team and a keynote session from the organiser of the Francis Crick Institute’s first ever Technician Week which ran earlier this year.
There will also be representatives from the organising professional bodies, and the National Technician Development Centre to learn more about technician support from professional bodies.
Delegates get free access to the National Space Centre for the duration of the conference, with an extended lunch break to take advantage of this.
RSC members can apply for the Technician Travel and Training Grant to fund travel to the conference venue.
