Using Synthetic Biology to Dial-a-Molecule

19 June 2012, Stevenage, United Kingdom

Introduction
The meeting aims to explore how synthetic biology might transform the way we make molecules in the future, for example:

* Engineering of pathways, using a bio bricks approach, within organisms to produce target molecules.
* Isolated (engineered/evolved) enzymes - where is biotechnology for synthesis going over the next 20-30 years?
* In vitro life inspired minimal systems e.g. artificial cells containing specific machinery to accomplish one or more synthetic transformations.

The meeting will involve keynote presentations from invited experts as well as short talks and flash presentations from participants. There will be discussions aimed at defining key areas for study, the resource/teams needed and to put a timeframe on developments.
