As part of our celebrations for this year’s Peer Review Week, come and join our editorial team members to hear all about the high-quality and rigorous peer review in Royal Society of Chemistry journals.

Sarah Whitbread, Royal Society of Chemistry, United Kingdom

Sarah is an Editorial Production Manager at the Royal Society of Chemistry working on Open Access journals including Environmental Science: Atmospheres, Environmental Science: Advances, Energy Advances, RSC Sustainability and EES Catalysis. She oversees the peer review and production of the journals to ensure that we publish high quality work and our peer review processes are robust.


Jeremy Allen, Royal Society of Chemistry, United Kingdom

Jeremy joined the Royal Society of Chemistry in July 2014 as a Publishing Editor, starting on the journals Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics and Nanoscale, before becoming the Deputy Editor for Chemical Science in 2018. At the beginning of 2022 Jeremy became the Executive Editor for Materials Advances and Nanoscale Advances, where he leads on the development of the journals, liaises with the Editorial Boards and oversees the production of articles. He is also the Executive Editor of recently launched journals RSC Applied Interfaces and RSC Applied Polymers. Prior to joining the organisation, he completed a PhD at the University of Bath, UK and worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. His research focused on the use of computational techniques for modelling reactions on surfaces and understanding the defect chemistry of oxide materials.
 


Laura Fisher, Royal Society of Chemistry, United Kingdom

Laura is Executive Editor for RSC Advances at the Royal Society of Chemistry, where she develops the journal’s strategy in conjunction with the Editorial Board, as well as overseeing the day-to-day running of the journal. Laura joined the RSC in 2014, and previously worked as Publishing Editor and then Deputy Editor for the journals Soft Matter, Polymer Chemistry, Biomaterials Science, Reaction Chemistry and Engineering, and MSDE. Laura is an advocate for improving inclusion and diversity in publishing, and worked on updating the RSC’s author name changes policy, as well as acting as an inclusion and diversity representative within the organisation. She also has a keen interest in publishing ethics.


Nicola Nugent, Royal Society of Chemistry, United Kingdom

Nicola is Publishing Manager, Quality and Ethics at the Royal Society of Chemistry, where she is the strategic lead for quality and impact across journals and books. She has responsibility for the journals peer review strategy, as well as publishing ethics, and inclusion and diversity in publishing. Nicola has over 15 years’ experience in STM publishing in a variety of operational and strategic roles, with an editorial focus. She is a member of the Peer Review Week steering group.
