Introduction

The Care Chemicals industry relates to cleaning within the Home, Industrial and Personal Care markets and links strongly to many global megatrends including but not limited to, growing population, urbanization, sustainability, and supply chain. The intent is to initially provide an overview of the industry landscape and key market players. This would be followed by a summary of the relevant aspects of surfactant chemistry which sit at the heart of all associated formulations with multiple variants used across multiple application areas to address multiple consumer needs and challenges. Whilst the intent is to discuss these consumer needs, the importance of collaborative and innovative solutions, and examples thereof, will also be highlighted. A particular emphasis will be placed on identifying solutions through a sustainability lens which in essence results in products with a lower carbon footprint. Examples will relate to raw material innovations, better performing products as well as adjacent chemistries.
