A day in the life of a chemistry teacher

Introduction
If you are considering becoming a Chemistry teacher or whether wondered what it was really like to teach chemistry, then this session from the Royal Society of Chemistry is for you. Come along to this session to find out what it is like to be a chemistry teacher. Hear from a panel which includes early career teachers, trainees and experienced chemistry teachers. They will talk about the application process, how they became teachers, how they progressed, the support they received and of course what it is really like to be a teacher! There will also be time to ask questions. 

The session will include: 
  • What does a typical day look like for a chemistry teacher? 
  • What are the most important things you need to know before becoming a chemistry teacher? 
  • Is there room for career progression?  
  • How do you manage disruptive students?  
  • How do you manage practical lessons?  
  • What are some of the biggest challenges in teaching?  
  • What are the best things about teaching?  
  • What is the best bit of advice for a person thinking about becoming a chemistry teacher?
