The course covers all the practical theory of the technique including the choice of analytical set-up, how the technique works and the different instrument components. Problematic samples are discussed as well as common sample preparation strategies before data analysis and calibration are covered.
During the course, delegates will have the opportunity to reinforce knowledge gained through exploration of a range of case studies covering elemental analysis in pharmaceuticals, drinking water, soils, motor oil, forensics, metal speciation, isotope ratios and food / drink authentication.
What will you learn on this course?
• You will learn the theory behind the technique of Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS)
• You will learn about all of the instrument components and the required troubleshooting and maintenance of each
• You will learn about problem samples, and what can be done to reduce plasma and isobaric interferences
• You will gain knowledge in how to optimise a method to build a robust methodology
