Global Conversation on Sustainability 2024 (GCS24)

Introduction
* Aim: To facilitate diverse students and staff for networking and discussion, open future collaboration and enable sustainability across multiple fields. This event also celebrates World Pharmacist Day (25 September each year) and reminds us of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

* Time: Wednesday 25/09/2024, 14:00pm-17:00pm GMT+1

* Format: Hybrid – Onsite in Birmingham (Adrian Cadbury Lecture Theatre - ABS 0.05 Aston Business School) and Online via Microsoft Teams (The Teams link will be sent to registered participants on Tuesday 24/09/2024)

* Participant: Maximum 90 students and staff with different backgrounds/career levels in STEM.

* Endorsing body: Systematic Coaching for Education (SYSCOEdu), Institute of Physics (IOP), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), and International Younger Chemists Networks (IYCN)-International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC)

A. INTRODUCTION: 14:00pm-14:20pm
- Introduction about the IYCN-IUPAC and Global Conversation on Sustainability (GCS) from Dr. Tien Thuy Quach – Teaching Fellow at Aston Pharmacy School and IYCN Chair (iycnglobal.com).

B. PANEL SHARING: 14:20pm-15:20pm
Several topics under the theme "Sustainability in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)" are shared across the Panellists to encourage participants to apply current and new pathways throughout their education and research journey. Selected topics include: #Teaching & Assessment, #Research & Development, #Diversity & Inclusion, #Professional Organisation #Other opportunities

Participants discuss (in pairs or groups) the recent barriers and prospects for sustainability in STEM, particularly promoting good practice of education and research at local, national, and international scales.
D. CLOSING & POST-NETWORKING (with refreshments): 16:30pm-17:00pm
