Huntly born author George MacDonald is celebrating the 200th anniversary of his birth this year.
Known as, “The father of fantasy fiction”, he inspired and encouraged such well known writers as Lewis Carroll, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkein.
He studied at Aberdeen University and graduated in chemistry.
There will be a Guided Walk around Huntly, explaining what the town was like in George MacDonald’s time, starting from The Square at 10.30am
followed by lunch in The Bank Restaurant at 1pm.
