The Chemistry Communicators Challenge 2025

Introduction
This year the themed talks will focus on the integration of AI into Chemistry. How is AI changing the game?
The themes are the following:
  • AI Driven Drug Discovery and Design: how AI accelerates the discovery and design of new drugs by predicting molecular interactions and optimising drug properties. Exploring the role of AI in revolutionizing pharmaceutical chemistry.
  • Material Science - Designing the Future of Chemicals. Examine how AI is transforming material science by predicting properties and behaviours of new chemicals and materials, leading to breakthroughs in advanced materials and sustainable chemistry.
  • Green Chemistry - Sustainable Chemical Processes: how AI can optimise chemical processes to be more sustainable, reduce waste, and contribute to the design of environmentally friendly chemicals and solvents. How AI can aid in solving global environmental challenges by helping chemists develop solutions for carbon capture, pollution control, and renewable energy.
  • Automating the Chemical Laboratory - AI in Robotics and High-Throughput Experimentation: how AI-powered automation and robotics are transforming laboratory workflows, enabling faster and more efficient experimentation through self-driving labs and AI-assisted synthesis.
  • Chemical Education and Research - Transforming Learning and Discovery: how AI is reshaping chemical education and research by offering new tools for learning, predicting experimental outcomes, and enhancing the teaching of complex chemical concepts.
Audience: everyone is welcome
Speakers: aimed at Chemist teachers, technicians, undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD students and early career researchers in Chemistry. However, everyone is welcome.

Each speaker is given 10 minutes to present their topic with or without a PowerPoint presentation (no other visual aids permitted).  All the speakers must attend in person at Burlington House.
 
Prizes to be won: £300 for the winner and £150 for the run-up in each section.
 
Light refreshments will be provided to all who attend in person at Burlington House.
 

Howw to apply:

  • Abstract Lenght: no more than 150 words (including 1 diagram if you choose).
  • Deadline: midnight of the 31st of January by emailing it to secretaryrsccm@gmail.com.
  • Theme Talk: Please indicate which themed talk you are applying for by including the theme in your title and email subject.

Registration to attend:

Email secretaryrsccm@gmail.com by midnight of the 3rd of February and indicate your dietary requirements.
 

Terms & Conditions:

  • Applications that are not submitted by the deadline will not be considered for the event.
  • Applications that do not meet the criteria for submission will not be considered.
  • The organising committee, as well as the judge’s decision, are final in terms of submission and prize winners.
  • Depending on interest and attendance, themed topics may be merged on the day to include as many speakers as possible.
  • All attendees, with the exception of those taking part in the competition, need to pre-register.
