Contextualising the topic

Many fresh foods contain weak acids, eg oxalic acid or citric acid
The RSC's screen titration experiment has further titration simulations that give contexts and activities to combinations or strong or weak acids or alkalis (level 1 was explored in the topic Titrations). Level 2 gives the context of the quality control and analysis of amount of active ingredient in a tablet, aspirin, which contains a carboxylic acid group – a weak acid. The simulation shows the chemistry and equilibium for this example and allows the screen titration of this weak acid with a strong base.
Acid erosion is one of a series of available problem based practical activities on Learn Chemistry. It provides an investigation of the acids in popular drinks in the context of a dentist requiring this information to consider how acidic are the drinks and how damaging these drinks may be to patients' teeth.
Ammonia is an example of a weak acid commonly used in the studies and comparisons of weak' and 'strong'. This podcast or transcript gives interesting insights into the everyday uses, history and production of ammonia, as well as the whiff!
