N = 12 Transition Structure
The N = 12 Cluster has two transition structures. The first has symmetry D5h and is related to Johnson solid J16 (Elongated pentagonal bipyramid). It consists of two back-to-back capped pentagons. The spheres of the pentagon are not in contact, but the distance between their centers is only 1.8% greater than one sphere diameter. The second transition structure has symmetry D3h and is a Anticuboctahedron. Both occur at ΛT = 1.0.
