Acids and bases chemistry is an area of any school chemistry curriculum that is likely to be studied several times during a student's chemistry education, because it often follows a spiral curriculum – revisiting topics at greater depth. Students will meet and need to understand the grouping of acids and alkalis, simple colour changes and indicators before meeting more advanced ideas (for example, the maths of the pH scale, neutralisation, protons and equilibria).
