Tien Thuy

Tien Thuy Quach’s volunteering with the RSC’s Particle Characterisation Interest Group (PCIG) led her to take on a coordinator-speaker role for the FORGE Conference 2022. As well as supporting the marketing and logistics of the conference, she also chaired a session and engaged with professionals and students from academia and industry. She is now a committee member of the group.

Biography

Tien Thuy Quach completed a pharmacy undergraduate programme at the University of Medicines and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (2011–2016) with her final year research in ‘formulation of pantoprazole delayed-release pellets’. She then worked as a technical assistant at the Asia Shine Trading and Services Ltd (2016–2017) and became Dean-Assistant and Lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam (2017–2018). From 2018 to 2019, she completed her MSc in advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing at the University of Strathclyde, UK: her final project was ‘developing a machine learning database for amorphous solid dispersions’. Tien has continued doing PhD research at the School of Pharmacy and Centre for Additive Manufacturing, University of Nottingham, UK (2019 to present). Her research ‘novel micro/nano scale characterisation of interfaces in multi-material additive manufacturing (3D printing)’ aimed to advance the fundamental understanding of interface phenomena in multi-material additive manufacturing. This will be achieved mainly by the development of tailored methodologies related to all strands of electron microscopy and other analytical techniques. Along with a great passion for doing research, Tien is willing to motivate the youth and support the vulnerable. Her pursuit is to become a great researcher, inspirer and supporter, and she believes sharing is receiving and we can help each other to expand our capabilities. She loves mentoring, volunteering, and exploring new things so she will continue participating in different healthcare and community projects.
